Miranda Gauthier Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.” He couldn’t be anymore right. But yet we still are over logging and illegally logging. Deforestation is when we cut down large amounts of the forests at one time; which have an effect on the life around and in the forests. Now imagine that you are a deaf-mute person, without any family in the world, and you are home alone one day and someone came to your house and pulverized it to the ground. What would you do? All of these species depend on each other to survive because the majority of them are endemic. The plant life is the habitat and the food on mostly all of the animals. While the animals help the flower reproduce by carrying their seeds. Bruno (n.d.) stated that between 70 percent and 90 percent of treetops are homes to the animal life that they surround. That is just the treetops though, there is also the lower layers such as the shrub layers. Shrub layers are home to fungi and other vegetation. This does not make it any less important to save though. We could even thrive off of the vegetation in the Rainforests of Atsinanana. All of the thousands of endemic animals will have nowhere to turn to and will become extinct. They may even invade the other surrounding ecosystems and become exotic animals in rural places. They could also adapt to the new ecosystem if it is not eroded away and be able to survive but only the fittest animals will be able to survive. For example, a Brookesia Chameleon will not survive as well as the Panther chameleon because the Brookesia is a lot smaller than the Panther chameleon. In general it will create havoc in the biological diverse island and many animals would become
