Bishop Finn involvement in the case:
Bishop Finn was first American Bishop who was convicted on September 6, 2012 because of failing to report the sexual abuse scandal of pedophile priest, shielding him for a decade. The bench trail which lasted for an hour has sentenced him to a probation of 2 years. If Finn finishes the probation which includes a set of rules such as donating $10,000 for abuse victim counselling to diocese, attending the abuse report training and advising all the agents to report any child criminal activities, then his criminal record would be washed away.
Finn was sentenced to spend a year in jail and had to pay $1000 each, for all of his charges. Finn truly regretted his decisions and before his final verdict he said “I am sorry for the hurt that the events have caused and I truly regret it”. He also said that “The protection of children is very important and sexual abuse of any kind should not be allowed and tolerated.”
The second-in-command to Finn at diocese, Monsignor Murphy also did not report about Ratigan’s photographs to police for five months even though he himself has seen the pictures and send them to verification to a staff member at technology department.

The pope has made Bishop Finn resign from his post and it was first time that any American catholic bishop has been accused of supporting an accused pedophile priest. Now it is time to act against all the priests and Bishops who have been involved in such incidents. Vatican City states they have already defrocked around 850 priests in the abuse scandal. Francis has already undergone several protests from Catholics in Chile because he has appointed Bishop Juan Barros has Bishop of Osorno diocese despite of the claims that he has witnessed several child abuse scandals and did nothing to stop
