In contrast to past generations, the sheer will and determination of oppressed groups are now the primary drives for those that wish to instill change in society. The shifts in beliefs and values in addition to the accessibility of modern technology has created a stable medium for those to express their voices to the world. Gone are the days of obedience and apathy, as more people are choosing to fight for their beliefs whether in the form of: protest, social media support, congressional action, boycott, outcry, and public condemnation. Her case became famous due to the eerily gruesome conditions of her murder as well as her social status as an aspiring actor in Hollywood who was also known as a drifter. Regardless, Elizabeth would have faced prejudice by the policing authorities. To this day, the case of The Black Dahlia remains officially unsolved as the murderer was never brought to justice. One reason for this outcome could have been because of the rampant corruption in the Los Angeles Police Department that was widely known by the general public at the time. They were known for notorious acts such as being bought off by powerful gangs and the like. So it would not be surprising if they set other priorities over solving the murder case of Elizabeth Short. The LAPD, as well as most of members of society at the time, were known for the bullying of members of minority groups, which “seems to be associated with additional factors such as prejudice and discrimination” (Chatters & Zalaquett, 2018, p. 21). People would have only viewed Elizabeth in a certain lens due to their biased opinions on her. This prejudice is the cause for the lack of objectivity in the work of her case. In today’s world, there would be public outcry if officials utilized prejudice in their work. The Black Dahlia was one of the many famous cases where precedent was set that still persists
