The Black Death is one of the most recognized problems of the dark ages. It started because of some sailors on ships coming into the harbor. “The people on the ships that sailed through the black sea were mostly dead when they came into the Messina port in Sicily Italy. (History.com)” The people that were not dead were gravely ill in the fact that they had been covered in black boils that oozed blood and pus. By the time the “death ships” were forced out of the harbor the plague was already spreading. After five years about 20 million people were dead. This was about one-third of Europe's population. The symptoms of the black death were fever, being unable to keep down food, deliriousness, swelling under the armpits, chills, vomiting, diarrhea,
