The Black Mirror episode, ¨ Hang the DJ¨ creates a futuristic scene where there is a highly regulated program called The System. People utilize The System through a disc like device with a computer named Coach. The System observes the person and uses that to match him or her to other individuals. It also decides how long the couple will be together, where they will go, what they will eat, what they will do, and where they will stay. These relationships are mandatory and are said to help the system gain information on the individual to pair him or her with the perfect match with a success rate of 99.8 percent. The oldest way is by a matchmaker. A person learns about individuals and matches them with another person that he or she believes would be compatible with the other. This did not always work out the greatest because the matches were based on an outsider's opinion. Newer apps and websites sometimes suggest people with similar interests to the person, or suggest people with similar attributes or attributes that person finds important. Other times the sites have the individual list what they find important in a partner and match from there. Other times programs can have a person take surveys about him or herself as well as other topics. Then these programs use mathematical algorithms to match people. Other programs match random people and allow the individuals to decide if they are interested in one another. Quite a few of these methods require payment to use, so that decreases the amount of users. The methods used today also do not have a very high success rate, especially compared to the 99.8 percent success rate The System has. However, it seemed to have created more problems. People’s value of life, attitude towards life, and overall personality can change because of The System. A person’s value of life can likely decrease because there is not really a reason for him or her to go out and pursue finding love. So many of the relationships are short and have time limits, that the individual would not even give effort to any of the relationships because there is no point to. This also can go along with the person’s attitude. The individual’s attitude towards The System would be poor because of the pointless relationships. The only incentive for The System is to find “your perfect match”, and who knows if it is even correct. Being in relationships consistently, one after another, would be draining on a person. This can alter his or her personality and cause him or her to be more bitter towards everyone the person meets. This causes the individual to come off as
