DYSTOPIAN UTOPIA, FROM THE LENS OF AN EYE WITNESS 2
Abstract
This paper explores the past as well as the present’s ideas that are the underlying causes in creating a culture known to be, Black culture. With treatments that lived with us and continue to live with us in a juxtaposed society, in today’s generation as opposed to past generations of our people; change is sought out. It’s when the worlds of 1919 and 2013 vary while still marrying together showing great similarities to let us know we have made it but not completely. The fight is not over. This paper relates to Cosby, Poussiant M.D.; doctor of medicine and William’s (2006, 2007) books of research and analysis of the Black community, Come On, People and Enough suggesting all forms of change possible and needed in order to successfully access the issues that influence our lives in a white America.

Past accounts not only allow for change but make apparent what actions need to be taken for the now. With this paper examining the research made in both books as well as the connections from an eye witness of the early 1900’s, it proposes that change in today’s society is significant which challenges the notion that our voice does not make a difference.
No matter what the naked eye grasps hold of the fact of the matter is we just never know who a person is or what they have gone through by sight alone. What we have embarked on as a people, as a family has only made our tides stronger. Just as the quote “A family that stays together, prays together” goes for a family who fight together. Hearing stories of the great obstacles overcame by our ancestors is not enough; we must actually listen to the accounts and do something about it. Over the weekend that just passed I had the opportunity to attend a College Summit workshop and what an experience it was. That's not the point I am trying to make though. We had to do this exercise where we had to find a person we did not know and ask them their name, school and super power they would want. My partner was a young man named

Edison and his superpower would be “the power to multiply” because he said “there's strength in numbers”. That stuck out to me because he is absolutely right but you may be asking yourself: what does this have to do with the major writing assignment project? Well, all of the knowledge accumulated over the course of three weeks including information gained
