In the short story, written by Ron Rash, “Blackberries in June,” the main characters are faced with hardships that inevitably put them odds with each other and their loved ones. The main couple, Jamie and Matt, as well as the remaining characters of the story, live in a small poverty stricken town of the Appalachian where hardships are as ordinary as [insert comparison]. However, with our main couple, they have befallen the challenges of loyalty, as well as, the apparent battle between their ambitions and their expected obligations to family. While the story does explore the differing perspectives of loyalty can possibly deter the dreams of someone who does not have the same perspective as everyone around them.
