The difference between practice and rehearsal, is that rehearsal isn’t teaching the notes and rhythm, its putting all the different types of music throughout the band together. Rehearsal may teach style and how the director in specific wants the piece of music to sound. Practice is something that you, as an individual musician, like learn the notes of the piece of music, and break it down to the place you struggle the most. Rehearsal isn’t learning the music for the first time, it’s putting everything together. A rehearsal is no fun if it’s just going over notes and rhythms the whole time, and a rehearsal like that doesn’t seem all that beneficial.
