I enjoyed visiting the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, and looking at Angel Ortega’s art pieces. Also, I admired his still life paintings because it brought back art memories in High School. Angel Ortega had three distinct art paintings that contained a vase of flowers. The one titled Blue Still Life was my favorite art pieces because of the texture, color, and the type media the artist portrayed. First, the painting’s texture was very interesting because he used mixed media. Ortega used dried oil skins of oil paint to make the art piece. He made the stems and petals look three dimensional. Majority of the painting had rigid and rough surfaces because of the dried oil skins. The artist basically made an art collage out of them.
