Jenkins, S. (2010) Bones: skeletons and how they work. New York: Scholastic Press.
Summary: Jenkins' book Bones: Skeletons and how they work teaches children about bones by seeing the differences between human and animal bones. He also explains how the different skeletons work. Jenkin’s explains how different animals have all have different skeletons which are made for either running fast or flying. At the end of the book he includes a two pages with all 260 adult human bones laid out.
Notes: I really liked the pull outs in this informational book for young adults and children. Also, I enjoyed the illustrations (to me look to be actual size) and also have clear labels and facts in the sidebars. My son really liked this book as well (went well with Halloween just passing). We looked through everything and he liked seeing the different between adult hands and animals. Every informative for both of us. Jenkin’s book would be good for both young children to see the bones and older children to learn and read the facts.
