1. There are many rumors surrounding the Radley house and its inhabitants. Some of these rumors are that a “phantom” lives inside, the Radley’s are blamed for all evil that takes place in Maycomb, Boo is over 6 feet tall, has yellow rotting teeth and drool, and his eyes are popping. Another rumor is that he eats uncooked animals. We know that some of these rumors are not true, because a person cannot be the reason for all “evil” or trouble caused in a town, and because a lot of people have never seen Boo Radley, therefore they would not know if he was 6 feet tall and had rotting teeth. It is said that Mr. Radley, Boo’s father was stabbed in the leg, and later on passed away. Boo was locked up in the courthouse basement, and then when he was released, his older brother Nathan arrived to continue to watch over Boo and keep him out of sight.

Scout, Walter Cunningham, and Burris Ewell are all in the same grade. Scout has been taught to read by Atticus and seems to have been raised to try her best when it comes to learning.Walter Cunningham attends school and is very poor, but comes from a family that does their best to take care of themselves. He wants to be treated like everybody else and does not want anyone’s pity. Burris Ewell on the other hand, never attends school for more than a day out of the year. He is also very poor, but no one in his family places any importance on an education. He is neglected and seems to never been taught about self respect. You can see that the two boys have different opinions about respect and education, because Walter at least tries, despite being poor, but Burris just doesn’t care about his
