Modern day genealogists and archeologists claim the Indians of North America came from Asia through Alaska and down into Canada and the United States area. What fathers does he mean? Adam? Noah? Abraham? David? Solomon? The Brother of Jared? Ether? What promises is he referring to that were made to whom? And what kind of history of the aborigines could this angel have given in this short visit? We know it must have been a short visit since this angel appeared to him two more times during this same night. Certainly not the whole Book of Mormon!? Why doesn’t he tell us exactly what the history was that the angel told him about? Hold on just a minute here! God doesn’t appear to most of us so how does God plan to leave us without excuse? This God who appears to Joseph Smith when Joseph Smith utters a simple prayer but does not appear to those of us who fast and pray for days on end and He claims to be no respecter of person now says He is determined to leave men without excuse? We can get into a vigorous discussion regarding faith and beliefs but that is not the purpose of this study but suffice it to say that what this angel said about God determining to leave men without excuse is, on the surface, not true. I realize this study is an inquiry but sometimes things get so ridiculous a statement must be made. God may not excuse man but man certainly has many excuses why he doesn’t believe all that Joseph Smith claims him to say. Thus God has determined to show certain individuals all the inhabitants of the earth, past present and future. The Book of Mormon then is clearly stating that predestination is the doctrine the Church should believe in. If every inhabitant of the earth, past, present and future, are available to be shown by God to a particular man it is incumbent to believe then that this knowledge must be available to God and those he shows it to. Why doesn’t God show this information to all of us or at least to me? He claims he is no respecter of persons.
