“Friends come and go, clothing is packed and unpacked, households are continually purged of unnecessary items, and as a result, not much sticks. It's hard at times but it makes a kid strong in ways that most people can't understand. Teaches them that even though people are left behind, new ones will inevitably take their place; that every place has something good and bad to offer. It makes a kid grow up fast.” ― Nicholas Sparks, The Lucky One. A photograph found by chance will lead to a chain of events that lead inevitably to the woman it shows. The Lucky One traces a path so short-lived and crafty that we would know that Nicholas Sparks had written even if his name did not appear on the title page. This story about a man whose scrape with death leads to his one true love will keep you up at night and then make you sleep more soundly. One of Nicholas Sparks’s best novels is The Lucky One. The Lucky One is a fictional romantic novel and includes characters: Logan Thibault, Elizabeth Green, Ben Clayton (Beth's son), Nana (Beth's grandmother), Drake Green (Beth's brother), Victor (Logan's friend), Keith Clayton (Ben's dad). The main character of the story is Logan Thibault. Logan Thibault is a military soldier from Colorado and is very doubtful. He always second guesses himself and didn’t believe in luck until his best friend, Victor, dies. He is also very adventurous. Walking across the U.S. to find a girl in a picture that has been a “lucky charm” is something most people would not do. Logan Thibault, though an ex-soldier, is very romantic and thoughtful. Elizabeth Green is an important part of the story as well. Lover of Logan, she is a basic country girl and very guarded. Her ex, Keith Clayton, is the cause. While in high school, the two got married and had a baby. Keith cheated and Beth has never been the same with men. Though guarded, Thibault still manages to break down her walls proving how good they are together. Ben Clayton (Beth’s 10 year-old son) is ball of energy and barely anybody can keep up with him except Zeus, Logan’s German Shepard. With his dad belittling, bullying, and judging him constantly, Ben is rarely himself. When Logan comes into town, Ben trusts him instantly and a strong bond between the two of them is created. Nana, Beth’s grandmother, is very wise. Nana, recovering from a stroke but mentally strong and wants only the best for her granddaughter and her grandson and will do anything for that.
