Summary
Terry Stanley Fox was born on July 28, 1958, in Winnipeg. Manitoba. He loves all kind of sports including hockey, baseball, especially basketball, and he has a fun childhood. When he was 18 years old, he runs into a car crash, and he starts feeling uncomfortable on his right knee. He went to the hospital and trying to see what happened. But unfortunately, he finds out that there was a tumor on his right leg (which is bone cancer), the doctor told him that his right leg needs to be amputated 15 centimeters (six inches) above the knee. The night before his leg got amputated, he reads about a one-leg runner and his dreams of running.

In St John’s, Newfoundland, Terry starts the Marathon of Hope by dipping his artificial leg into the Atlantic ocean. After 143 days and 5,373 kilometers (3,339 miles) of running. Terry stopped running at Thunder Bay, Ontario. He feels pain in his lungs; he thought he got a cold and it will be fine to run another 3,000 miles. But once he runs a mile, it even hurt his heart. So, he went to a local hospital and checked what happened to him. But the bad news is, the cancer had spread to his lungs. There is a big tumor in his left lung, and there is a small one on the right lung. Before he dies, he let one of his good friend to hold a run every year, and in Terry’s name, also they will receive donations, and all the money they raise will go to cancer research. Because at the beginning of this book, the author talked about how Terry became a hero, and why people start to call him a hero. Terry don’t why, and he doesn't really care about how people call him, he is doing his own thing; to raise money for the cancer research. Also, the author wrote a sad story on how Terry got cancer; after the crash, terry feel painful on his right leg, and the doctor told his family that he got bone cancer on his right leg, and his right leg needs to be amputated 15 centimeters (six inches) above the knee. His friends and family were crying and felt sad for Terry; they felt sorry to Terry for the things that they did unfairly to Terry
