The dancers from Booker T. Washington performed at the Montgomery Arts Theater on April 3, 4, 5, and 6. Every year Booker T Washington has a spring performance where guest choreographers, as well as staff, come choreograph on Booker T Washington dancers. The dances Interludes of Present, Duality (Give in), and Shibboleth all showcased the quality of relationships very well. Interludes of the Present, choreographed by Alex Clair, showed the relationship of action and reaction through physical touch between the dancers. The dance also showed the relationship between the dancers and music. The dance had a lot of partnering and reacting when people would touch each person. The change in music resulted in a change in dancing. An example of Jansyn Decuir’s solo. When the violin was playing, her movement was sharp, fast, and a little chaotic. When the violin subsided, her movement went back to slow. The dance interludes displayed the relationship between action and reaction and the relationship between the dancers and the music. Duality (Give In), choreographed by Omar Humphry, showed the relationship between the music and how the dancers moved in partnership with it. The dance also displayed the relationship between the dancers on stage. This dance was a very upbeat dance and the dancers looked like they were having fun. The dance had a lot of group sections and duets. An example of the relationship with the music is the last group section. They all danced exactly to the music, not before or after the tempo. An example of the relationship with the dancers on stage was Bonner Ruff and Micah White. The dancers made eye contact with each other, which made the dance seem more fun and relaxed. It also made the duets more together because the dancers were connecting through eye
