On Friday May 1, 2015 a march and rally took place in Boyle Heights in Los Angeles. It was first brought to my attention by faculty and students at Garfield High School, where as a returning alumni train Track and Field runners. This rally was a call not only for immigration reform and equality but to promote solidarity and Black and Brown unity. We were scheduled to meet on the corner of Soto and First streets at 4:00pm. It was surprising to see how many faculty students and people from the community showed up. The fact is that there are many undocumented families living in Boyle Heights and they are the ones that are being effected the most by these unjust immigration laws. We started to protest on our way to Mariachi Plaza which was located at First and Boyle Avenue. The feelings of stress my mom had because sometimes we did not have enough money to buy food to eat. The tedious hours my mom spent in trying to finding a job with “descent” pay to support our family. I want my mom to be able to find a job and not be afraid of being deported at any time. My mom is the reason why I value my education and why I want to graduate and get my masters to be able to buy her a house provide for her so that she does not have to work anymore. To pay her back all the sacrifices she made to give me a better life and future. She is also the reason why I come to these rally and marches to defend her rights and the rights of all the undocumented people that have struggled as much as I did or even worst, to help them have a better life and
