Ending is better than mending means that sometimes it's better to completely cut relations with something or someone rather than trying to fix it. This could apply to relationships, families, friends, jobs, or even personal habits. The "who" in this quote is Aldous Huxley. He quoted it in his book “Brave New World”. The "what" is the decision to end something rather than try to fix it, like problems with friends, couples or even parents. The "when" to use it, is when the situation feels like it can't be repaired even when you really want it to, the "where" is wherever the person is facing this decision, and the "how" is the way they choose to end things.

The way he showed love was buying me things when I was upset. At one point, I grew out of it. So over time me and him drifted and started getting into a lot of arguments over little things that we did not need to fight about. Then when I came out as a lesbian it gradually got worse. My dad is a very traditional Mexican man, in other words, he is old school. He's the type of guy that says girls have to always be dressed nice with makeup and hair done. Anything other than that would be unacceptable. Unfortunately for him, that wasn't the case with me. Around middle school, I started to know a lot more about what I liked. I play basketball and track. He did not like that because they were not girly things to do. Every little thing I tried doing was not good enough for him. I didn't like girly things, but that's all he wanted out of me. As I got older I started finding my style in clothes. I prefer wearing more boyish clothes. Again, he did not like that at all. Still to this day he gives me ugly looks when he sees me shopping in the guy section. Now I can give you a list of the possible reasons why I think we don't get along, but I can't truly tell you the exact reason
