Breast augmentation complications that necessitate a breast revision surgery include:

Breast implant deflation due to leakage or a rupture (may be caused by an implant malfunction, breast trauma or an aged implant). Capsular contracture, which occurs when a woman’s body creates excessive scar tissue around a breast implant. This scar tissue tightens around the implant, causing the breast to feel firm. In addition, the breast implant may move to a different position. When this complication occurs, it can be painful. Capsular contracture may occur around one or both breast implants. Rippling or wrinkling of a breast implant (this complication can be caused by thinning of the tissue around the implant). Bottoming out, which refers to the breast implant falling beneath the breast crease. Symmastia is characterized by a loss of cleavage due to medial displacement. With this complication, the implants may touch one another in the midline. For medical reasons, including trauma, surgery or disease. Lateral displacement occurs when the implants rest too far to the lateral sides of a woman’s chest.
