Most of my family and friend's don't know that I still breast feed my 3 year old son. But when certain people do find out they usually have a lot of questions. I am going to talk about the most common questions I get asked. The number one question is "Why haven't you weaned your son yet?" My answer is we are using the child led parenting method. What that means is I do things at my son's pace. The second question is "What if he still is nursing when he goes to high school?" My answer is that has never happened in history and will not happen with us either. People naturally lose their suckling mechanism and desire to breastfeed anywhere from the ages of 2 and 7. Another common question is "How often does he nurse?" Since my son is older he doesn't nurse nearly as often as when he was a baby. He mostly nurses before bed, before a nap, and when he wakes up in the morning. Occasionally if he falls down and gets hurt really bad he will want to nurse and that will help calm him down pretty quickly. People also wonder "What are your rules with nursing?" I set boundaries with nursing. If we are out at the store and I am holding my son and he all of a sudden wants to nurse he isn't allowed to. I nursed in public when he was a baby, but I don't anymore. I just don't think it is appropriate. Of course no biting allowed! Those are all what I get asked the most and I have no problem answering questions. It is something in America that you don't see very often. I remember with my son I was told by his pediatrician at the time to nurse until he is 6 months old and then to switch to a bottle. I was told by another pediatrician to nurse for year maximum. I followed my instincts and I am glad I
