The music video, “Brenda’s got a Baby” by Tupac Shakur is “based on a true story” (Shakur), about a young lady in her early teens. While it is noticeable that she is from a poverty stricken neighborhood and possibly raised in an unstable environment this could happen to anyone and anywhere. The story involves sex, drugs and murder. It is about a beautiful young lady that has gotten herself involved in an abusive relationship with a drug addict boyfriend. It is unclear if the cause of her lifestyle is from bad parenting skills, being a rebellious child or a failed society.

She look as if she may be between 12 and 14 years of age. The fear of being a pregnant teenager is one thing but not sure who the father may be is another. She hid her pregnancy from her family easily because she wore clothes several sizes too large, but what about her Johns. They must be pathetic lowlife predators having unprotected sex with a pregnant child. Giving birth to a child alone in a public bathroom should have been detrimental to her. It was not noticeable that she was a prostitute until the man shown reading the newspaper article “Prostitute Found Slain” (Oakland Tribune). His body language shows that he may have known the victim when he saw the heading of the article. Could it have been Brenda’s father? Even if a parent has not been in a child’s life knowing that she was murdered will still hurt them. How devastating it could be for a parent to find out about the death of a child through the media. What type of relationship does she have with her family? Is Brenda, herself the reason her family does not care for her? Is it that her family doesn’t care about her and she found love in all the wrong places? The answers to these questions can only be assumptions for this
