The story’s thirteen-year-old protagonist, Brian Robeson finds “divorce a tearing, ugly word that meant fights and yelling.” Brian reacts and behaves how a typical thirteen-year-old boy would if their parents were undergoing a divorce. Likewise, if one was left alone in a plane with no fuel mid-flight with a dead pilot, they would react similarly because it would ensure no possible way of surviving. I was very impressed on how Brian acted after knowing he had to take over the controls of the plane even with almost little to no experience, this act displayed boldness and courage. Brian suffers from both internal and external conflicts throughout his life. Internally, he is very sensitive about the thought of his parents separating, “[I] felt
