There are still things that blacks suffer today but it is much less than how it used to be. Public restrooms and water fountains were segregated before the Children March in Birmingham. Today, people worry about whether someone should go into the boys or girls bathroom because they are transgender but people used to worry about making sure they went into the correct bathroom. Imagine a water fountain being made just because our skin color was different. They thought African Americans were so dirty, and nasty that they couldn’t even drink from the same water fountain as them. Trying to personally put myself in their shoes is tough because what do you do? Go to the separate bathroom or protest? Today we don’t worry about that. Blacks can walk outside without the fear of being beat up by a white mob on their way to check the mail. There’s no fear of students going to school due to their race because of the Children March in Birmingham. It changed the entire social aspect of the United States. This made America the melting pot. The ability of citizens to have their own religion and choose who they want to be without being controlled or discriminated. These were all social advancements thanks to the Children March in
