The authors state that without any doubt Broca’s region supports language processing. Among linguistic and non-linguistic views, there are presently four current contenders concerning comprehension functions in this region. They are: action perception (AP),working memory (WM), syntactic complexity (SC), and syntactic movement (SM). The results available from these different hypothesis point out that Broca’s region might be multifunctional when for many years it was considered as being entrusted only to production language functions. Important discoveries through controlled experimentation of patients showed that these had a syntactically selective comprehension deficiency for sentences involving SM and thus leads to show that Broca’s region
