The ecological model of development is a theory that provides a new approach to the field of developmental Psychology. Bron-ferbrenner‘s theory articulate the importance and influence of culture, politics, relationships, social interactions and life ex-periences have on one’s life. McWhiter, McWhiter, McWhiter & McWhiter, (2013) Bronferbrenner approached development from biological perspective, which emphasizes the interconnect-edness of the influences on development. Feldman, (2011). “For example, improving the school environment may have a negative effect on performance.” (p.23)

A stepfather be-came part of my mesosystem and my eldest siblings migrated to the UK. This environment created a negative influence on my life, For example, I lived in a blended family with five new peo-ple. During this time I developed an asthmatic condition that influenced my physical development. During my experience of physical and emotional pain, I began connecting with my teach-ers in school and the members of my church. According to Feldman (2011) at this stage this stage one no longer focuses on knowledge to solve potential problems, but on task that have personal meaning. The task I have set out to complete has which is to graduate with a Masters degree is a personal accomplishment that has meaning to my life. Entering into the field of counseling was one of the best decisions I have made. During my five years of studies, I have developed new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. My learning experiences have provided me the self assessment resources. Today I choose to focus on the here and now instead of the past. Although there are potential blocks in my life I am proud of my accomplishments (p. 103) For example, completing the last stage of my Masters degree.
