Bruce Jenner caught the attention of the world in the 1972 Olympics winning gold in the men’s decathlon. After the Olympics, Bruce continued to be Americas hero by posing for Sports Illustrated, Gentleman’s Quarterly and being the spokesperson for Tropicana, Minolta and Buster Brown shoes. However, in 1977 Bruce signed a contract to be Wheaties Brand cereal icon landed him on every Wheaties cereal box. Bruce started his television and film career in the 1980’s making appearances on ABC and ESPN shows also, being a guest on SNL. Although, his most famous role he played in television was himself. Her story had a greater impact on the world then most because it allowed for society to change its views on transgendered people. One factor that changed is what when she came out, the issue went from something everyone turned a blind eye to to something that everyone young or old was talking about. For example, E network gave Caitlyn her own show that followed Caitlyn around as you hung out with other transgender and advocated for transgender rights. However, I highly doubt prior to Caitlyn’s coming out E network would have never had a show about the transgender community. So, even though coming out is a very personal issue, Caitlyn’s personal story has changed the acceptability of having a conversation about these
