Nebuchadnezzar II
The Neo-Babylonian Empire civilization was in Mesopotamia between the years 626-539 BCE. During the three last centuries Babylonia had been ruled by both the Akkadians and Assyrians. After the death of the last strong Assyrian leader the Babylonian peoples looked to a king. This new king was the great Nebuchadnezzar II who ruled from 604-562 BCE (Traditions and Encounters page 31). Nebuchadnezzar was very popular when he became king because he was a Babylon native (www.publicbookshelf.com). In this paper my goal is to focus on Nebuchadnezzar and his achievement on the hanging Gardens of Babylon.

The other method was the theory of the screw pipe. This device looks like a trench or waterway with one end of it in the lower pool, from which the water was taken with the other end all the way to the upper pool. As the screw is turned, water is caught between the blades of the screw and forced upwards. When the water gets to the top it falls out onto the upper pool, then the water flows from the upper layer to the bottom layer and waters all the vegetation on all the levels. Turning the screw can be done by a hand crank (which was probably done by a slave). A different design of the screw pump mounts the screw inside of a tube, which takes the place of the trench or waterway. With this version of the screw pump both the screw and tube move together therefore forcing the water upwards. Screw pumps are very efficient ways of moving water and a number of engineers have speculated that they were used in the Hanging Gardens. Strabo (a Greek geographer) even makes a reference in his writings of a beautiful garden …show more content…
The stone indicated that it could have been the Hanging Gardens since the stone was only found in one other structure on the planet. After searching longer in more in depth he came upon a room with three strange large holes in the floors. He concluded that this was where the chain pumps were located.
In conclusion the idea of Nebuchadnezzar’s achievement of being able to create something as magnificent as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon is something evens the most brilliant people won’t be able to wrap their mind around. There will always be new evidence which could prove hundreds possibly thousands of facts about the Gardens. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is truly a wonder of the ancient
