Buchenwald Concentration Camp was one of the largest on German soil. The name Buchenwald was given to the camp by Heinrich Himmler. The camp was established on July 16, 1937. Buchenwald was divided into three part. The first being the “large camp” the second, the “small camp” and the last was the “tent camp.”
Large groups of prisoners began to arrive in the camp by the end of 1938. The German Jews that arrived in 1938 were subjective to extraordinarily cruel treatment. They worked fourteen to fifteen hours a day. The Nazi’s objective at this point was to exert pressure on the Jews and their families. They did that to get them to emigrate to Germany in the shortest amount of time.
In the final days of the camps presence, resistance members
