I believe the purpose of the Buckeye Student Leadership Academy is to help students learn about themselves and how to be a good leader. This is extremely crucial for my personal development, and to spread the benefits by helping others do the same. As an Indian American, I often find it challenging to feel like I belong. Either “too Indian” or “too American”, it can be a struggle trying to feel comfortable in my own skin. Learning how to not only accept, but embrace myself is something I feel that I deserve in order to grow as a person. I believe that being surrounded by people similar to me will help with this. Along with that, being a good leader is an invaluable skill. In almost every situation, there is an opportunity to step up as a leader.
