The beautiful city of Burnaby is located in British Columbia, Canada. It is located close to Vancouver and it’s the third largest city in British Columbia. The proximity to the coast of British Columbia is attracting visitors to the city since 1892. According to the U.S. census 2011, the population of Burnaby was 223,218.
History
In 1892 when Burnaby came into existence, it was named after two famous people of that time, namely, Freemason and explorer Robert Burnaby. However, the citizen of Burnaby had to wait for more than 100 years because Burnaby was incorporated as a city in 1992.

These developments marked the golden era of the city. The first municipal hall was completed in 1899 and in 1900 Barnet mill was opened with triggered the second settlement in the region. Rapid growth took place in 1911 when a large brick hall was built to portray the growth of the city as a sub-urban municipality. However, in 1954 the municipality was shifted to the center of Burnaby much to the relief of the citizens of both north and south Burnaby.

It features a mesmerizing historic village, which houses different shops, tourist attractions and homes. The museum was incorporated in 1971 and was originally called as the Heritage Village. The Burnaby village museum features a tram stop community and B.C electric interurban railway. The place is a must visit for everyone looking to gain insightful knowledge about the rich culture and heritage of Burnaby.
Over Lynn Mansion
The mansion is among the first houses that were constructed in the city of Burnaby. The city is proud of this preserved heritage home because it is a mirror of the rich architecture and displays the culture during the 20th century. The mansion came into existence in 1912 and was the property of Charles Peter, who spent $75000 to build it. The mansion became a heritage site in 1995. From lion head knocker on the front door to rough cut marbles, solid oak paneling and hand painting burlaps above the panel, the mansion fills the journey of the tourist with memories to cherish for a lifetime.
