Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
MRP systems have been installed almost universally in manufacturing firms. MRP is a logical, easily understandable approach to the problem of determining the number of parts, components, and materials needed to produce each end item, and it provides the schedule specifying when each of these materials, parts, and components should be ordered or produced (Chase, Jacobs, & Aquilano, 2006). LTD will focus on how to best employ the latest applications of MRP to make the manufacturing process of the various mass produced electric fans as efficient as possible.
According to the inventory report, Riordan maintains a stock of 7200 fans in each of the 12 varieties they mass produce.
