In 1959 author C. Wright Mills created the term” social imagination” which influences our every day lives. Social Imagination is best described as our own personal world view and its ability to be limited by the social situations that we encounter everyday. In “The Promise”, Mills writes “What ordinary men are directly aware of and what they try to do to are bounded by private orbits in which they live: their visions and their powers are limited to the close –up scenes of job family, neighborhood; in other milieu, they move more vicariously and remain spectators” (Mills 3).
