Present at this meeting was the student intern’s supervisor (Tracy), as well as four FSWs (Maddy, Alana, Alex, and Austin). The group began in Tuckman’s ‘forming’ stage of team development (Tuckman, 1965). Participants were introduced to a set of group norms and the shared goal for the group. The participants of this group had relatively dissimilar perspectives in that they had all been in the role for different amounts of time – from multiple years to just a couple of weeks. It appeared to the student worker that the varying levels of experience had the potential to bring many different ideas to the staff development meeting.
