Known for its self-awareness of the audience, fake coumentary is introduced as “a fiction film received like a documentary with a twist. And here, reception is marked as the linchpin of the definition of documentary and its fake.” According to Juhasz and Lerner, because of the educational and self-reflective dimensions of fake documentary, “a knowing reception is key.” Therefore, “successful fake docs either demand an ‘educated’ viewer or teach their viewers to be smarter.” Café Nagler belong to this
