On November 19, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, a fashion icon was born. Calvin Klein grew up in the Bronx with his parents, Flo and Leo Stern, and developed his passion for fashion from his grandmother. Klein attended the High School of Art and Design and later attended and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1962 (“Calvin Klein Biography”). Klein started a coat business with a friend, and in 1968, made his first sale on accident. Thankfully that accident happened. Otherwise, the name Calvin Klein would not be known in today's society. Calvin Klein may have started his career in fashion with coats, but it soon spread to other areas of fashion including women’s sportswear, accessories, swimsuits, fragrances, eyewear, and jeans.
