In many chapters , Joel paid much more attention on the regime in Cambodia. He collected a lot of researches from different parties. Actually, I am really interested and shocked in regime by Khmer Rouge. It was most dark period in Cambodia by ruling of Khmer Rouge. Joel narrated experiences and stories from Kenneth Quinn and Charles Twininig in a chapter. Quinn was a young State Department officer in Chau Doc who witnessed the beginning of a horror show in Cambodia. On the hilltop, he saw a complete preparation for a seriously future threat. In some days later, he saw that Cambodian refugees fled into Vietnam likes a huge wave which means threat began. In Quinn’s records and notes, the Khmer Rouge such as totalitarian in Nazi Germany kicked people out eastern Cambodian area, burned people’s house and started a Khmer Krahom’s program to grab ruling powers from Lon Nol’s government.
