This relates to the American Dream because it shows that to be successful whether it's gaining independence or living a better life in a new country, people should work hard and take risks to achieve this success. In “The American Dream is Real. I’m Living Proof” Angel Eduardo tells the story of his immigrant parents who came to America and became successful. Eduardo’s parents are immigrants from the Dominican Republic. Before coming to America, his father worked as an oral surgeon but he wanted to move to America to give his family a better life so he started all over and his mom left the only home she ever knew. This is common with many immigrant families. Eduardo mentions how the years living in America at first were a struggle. In the text it states “I was an infant when we lived in someone’s attic and my parents worked to make ends meet.
