Captain Walker's Spec Ops: The Line

Spec Ops: The Line is a third person shooter in which the player takes control of Captain Walker, a Delta Force operative tasked with a search and rescue mission in a sand storm ravaged, post-apocalyptic looking Dubai. While the game plays like a traditional game in the genre would, it from time to time presents the player with unique choices which differentiate it from other shooters I have played. While playing through the game on the easiest setting, I really liked how the game handled its combat. Enemies went down with a realistic one or two shots from most weapons, a refreshing change from other military-focused games like Call of Duty where all adversaries are bullet sponges. However, after a while the combat became boring and repetitive, not changing too much or adding anything new to the shooter formula. Only a couple significantly different enemy types showed themselves, each just a little more heavily armored than the last, and not much harder to dispatch. What I really liked about the game was its story, and the sometimes very heavy themes it carried. The members of Delta Squad start to bleed, bruise, and look war-torn as the campaign progresses. Soon, the clean, proper, and heroic soldiers from the start of the game become almost unrecognizable. Along with this progression, Walker especially shows signs of mentally unravelling as he experiences the horrors of war time and time again. Instead of staying reserved about his decision to kill other American soldiers, near the end of the game he becomes much more violent, and announces his confirmed kills
