Recently I was on career cruising and I was really interested in this career im about to tell you about. Career cruising chose Athletic Trainer for me and I am actually really interested in doing this. A Lot of Athletic Trainers behind the scenes do other activities outside of game time assistance include organizing physicals. I would consider doing this career which is being a Professional Athletic Trainer.
In the Athletic Training department, Athletic Trainers do physical activities with professional sports teams, schools, hospitals, colleges, doctors, sport fitness centers and sport medical clinics. The median is around $46,000 a year. Their employer education and location can affect income. Experience can also affect income. Also full time trainers usually get benefits like they get paid for sick days, vacation time and health insurance, some also receive a retirement plan.
Onto a interview from Chris about his day. He first begins his day at 7:30 a.m by entering the arena for morning treatments, and organizing files, equipment, and supplies. Chris then usually leaves around 10:00 p.m. Chris works usually around 14 hours and 30 minutes. When he usually gets their he is working by himself for a while then around 1 hour and 30 minutes later people come like, sport teams. This is something that Chris likes about his career. Chris said, I like working within a team environment. Professional hockey is a team environment. It’s something that I really enjoy being involved with. Now these are somethings that Chris dislikes about his job. there’s an awful lot of hours that go into it. And the hours are untimely—meaning that the games end at 11:00 at night. Sometimes not getting home until 1:00 in the morning with a practice to follow the next morning at 10:00, at which time, you have to be at the rink by 7:00. So, the hours, very long, said Chris. You want to definitely have an interest in medicine and combine that with sports.
