The final interviewee was Candice Maldonado, certified nursing assistant. Candice began working in healthcare because it was “easier to get into than retail, there’s a larger need for it.” She stated the average age of her residents were in their 80’s, but there is not average mortality rate. In her role, Candice mainly sees residents coming to Atrium for short-term rehab, such as hip/knee replacements as well as falls, and dementia/Alzheimer's care. When a resident passes away, it is Candice’s job to report it to the unit nurse and begin to prepare the body while the nurse makes the necessary calls. Preparing the body involves washing the person, changing their clothes, and making them as well as the room look presentable prior the family
