What: The first visual that I have chosen to make a connection with is a picture of beauty pageant contestants to the quote: “girls with their legs crossed, girls with their legs not crossed, girls with terrific legs, girls with lousy legs, girls that looked like swell girls, and girls that looked like bitches if you knew them.” (Salinger 123). This quote is said by Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of the novel The Catcher in the Rye when he was waiting for his date, Sally Hayes at Biltmore Hotel.
Why: I will be making this visual connection through the feminist lens. When Holden was waiting for his date Sally to arrive at the Biltmore Hotel, he saw a bunch of girls sitting at the lobby with their legs crossed. While he was looking at these
