With the thought of concussions as being a serious medical emergency these people think that as soon as the injury happens the athlete should be taken off of the field of play. The athletes should be able to shake off whatever happened to them and they will be able to compete at the same level after they have gotten their bell rung. The athletes do not need to be evaluated by the medical staff, because this just adds to the time that the athlete is off the field. This thinking has been around for centuries and use to have a lot of backing when there was no way of running an MRI in the head to examine if there had been a post traumatic brain injury.
