The ocean covers 71% of the earth, and 80% of the ocean is polluted. This is an ongoing problem that isn’t being solved. The pollution being put into the ocean consists of cigarettes, plastic bags, caps/lids, plastic cups, food wrappers, paper bags, cans, etc. These items cause problems to the animals who live in the ocean, and even the people who enjoy going to the beach.
The pollution in the ocean causes many things to happen to the wildlife, and the ocean water itself. Things like sewage drainage can put bad chemicals into the water that are extremely damaging. For example, the chemicals can cause fishes heart rate to slow down rapidly and this can provoke heart disorders in the newborn of the fish. This is bad for the human health because, fish is a very popular food choice.

All the trash being put into the water is seen to most of the animals as food. So being wild they eat whatever they can find, so they end up eating the trash. And when they do eat it is doesn’t digest so it just staying in their stomachs which is life threatening to them. Another trash item that is harmful for marine animals is plastic yokes. There are terrible stories of these plastic rings getting caught around the bodies of, turtles, fish, baby dolphins, etc. A movie by the name of, “Dolphin tale”, was based off a true story of a baby dolphin who was found on a beach on the coast of Florida, with a crab trap caught around her fin. The movie is based on her journey recovering her injury. She gets her fin removed and a fake fin replacement. She goes through many battles and struggles, but she ends up happy, and well in the end. The movie really captured a heartfelt story, to show people the dangers and the effects of pollution being put into the ocean, and what it does to innocent creatures, like the poor, baby dolphin
