Coming to CBA in the beginning of September of 2020, I was ready to volunteer and do acts of service to better my community. I have done lots of service before, both as my own choice and as a requirement for my religion class. I knew that CBA required service to graduate, but I hoped to serve not to fulfill CBA’s requirement, but to help people. Although it is nice to receive documented service hours, I volunteer because I find the feeling of helping others inspiring and fulfilling. Seeing the service I do has a rippling effect in my community, makes me feel accomplished, since it feels good to have a positive impact on others. Knowing that I am positively contributing to those families in line at the food bank every week reminds me of the importance of giving back. During the summer before senior year, I participated in St. Peter’s Community Blessing Brigade once again. Although I did everything similar to my junior year in this food drive, it approached my service differently. As an older student, getting ready for college and moving onto the next chapter of my life, I knew that my time contributing to this food drive was coming to an end. This caused me to put even more passion into every lunch I made, and made sure that I greeted everyone receiving these lunches with a smile. Especially during my senior year, I wanted to make a lasting impact on the people that I helped aid with my service, since I was going to leave soon. Speaking of moving onto the next stage of my life, I hope to continue my acts of service in college in an effort to help people who are less fortunate in my community. This is important to me, since I believe that the small but lasting impact I make on my community helps to make the world at least a little bit
