My Experience Watching the CSU Stan Theatre Shows During my time taking my theatre class, I went to go see some live performances that were very diverse and intense as far as their show content. Each show that I did watch had theatre elements that I learned in class. Watching these great shows, there were certain elements that worked for me, while other elements I preferred for them to be added into the shows. So, this semester I went to go see the Stories from the Indian Boarding School, Boeing Boeing, and Aladdin’s Luck. First, Stories from the Indian Boarding School was my first CSU Stan show. Honestly, when I walked into the theatre, I did not know what to expect. Moreover, the narrator discussed what it was like for Native Americans lives in the United States as well as their children being sent to boarding schools. In these boarding schools, the Native Americans are being converted into the United States culture and sometimes it was very a brutal transition. One tragic scene that impacted me was when the Native American student had a baby and she tried to hide it away. Tragically, the baby became silent since it was dead, which almost brought tears to my eyes. Speaking of tragedy, the Greeks main element was very influenced by this play. Almost every scene in this play was tragic. In another scene, this teacher got so upset with her Native American students that she cut their ponytails completely off. I thought to myself that this was a tough life to live in those boarding schools. Another element I learned in class was realism and this play definitely had it.
