The purpose of this observation is to analyze how early childhood development is used in this video “CDE103 Observation Block Building Towers.” I will be using four major theoretical frameworks to explain my observations: fine and gross motor skills, social emotional milestones, vygotsky's zone of proximal development, cognitive milestones and language development. In the video, the two young girls are introduced as Sara and Samantha. They seemed to be about the age of 4-5 in a classroom environment playing with two different sets of blocks. Based on the interaction and behavior of these two children, playing with blocks helped them learn and explore different physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development. In this case, cognitive milestones involve learning to solve problems and understanding their environment, which is shown by Sara’s ability to balance the shapes. Sara is shown to use problem-solving to figure out how to balance different shapes, which is a key cognitive development in early childhood. On the other hand, Samantha decides to use her wooden blocks to stack on top of each other to build one tall tower. Samantha stacking wooden blocks to build a tall tower shows how fine and gross motor skills are. This activity involves the coordination of small muscle movements (fine motor skills) and larger movements involving the whole body (gross motor skills). It’s a hands-on experience where she develops her physical abilities and hand-eye coordination. As the video rolls, it appears that Samamatha tower catches Sara. Sara begins to move her attention towards the Sammantha towers. Sara says,” That will fall down. She begins to say, “that it will fall down on my tower.” Sara shows concern about her tower, worry that the rower will end up falling on her tower. In this scenario, Sara’s language development is used through her ability to express concern and predict what might
