Cerebral Palsy Cerebral Palsy is a disorder that affects posture and body movements. It can either be caused by some type of brain injury or can happen during pregnancy or during the first years of the infants life. A baby is at high risk if they are premature, if they are not getting adequate amounts of oxygen during pregnancy, or a even a very serious head injury. Other things that could cause Cerebral Palsy are infection such as meningitis. There have many cases where Cerebral Palsy was causes by an unknown factor. Everyone who has Cerebral Palsy has problems with movement but it is worse for some. The people who are not as bad may have a difficulty walking or even a limp. Others have a more serious for that causes them to have limited or no control of their extremities. They even have problem with eating and speaking due to being unable to control their mouth and tongue. These are the patients that may have learning disabilities and even seizures. Infants with Cerebral Palsy have severe problems with their posture that can affect their bodies making them floppy or even stiff. Cerebral Palsy in children doesn't worsen the symptoms do. Other symptoms may include difficulty eating, delays in learning and motor skills, also problems swallowing. One side of the patients body or even the whole body may be affected due to the Cerebral Palsy. If the Cerebral Palsy is not treated muscle rigidity may worsen.
