In today’s society it is important to remember on thing, Change is inevitable. Often at times people are skeptical of change, in some cases even fear it. However, after taking a closer look at American society we know that change is what built this country. It is now 2015 and the U.S. debt is well over 18 trillion dollars. With that in mind it is time we change the way we look at our economy. Our leaders and citizens must now look at america through the eyes of a business owner. In the business world you are either a consumer or supplier. In regards to marijuana, as a nation, we are neither supplying the goods nor purchasing them. However, by trying to stop the flow of this particular “drug” we are minimizing our nation's opportunity to regain financial stability while also plunging ourselves deeper into debt. With the recreational use of marijuana being illegal anyone found in possession of marijuana can be arrested. This we war against drugs is a tale as old as time. No matter what efforts being put forth nothing seems to work. As time progresses the benefits of criminalization for possession have almost disappeared entirely. Unlike many of the hardcore drugs around today marijuana is not something that can be cooked in a lab. Its is a product of nature, something that is harvested rather than concocted. The production of goods through soil is what started this country, wherever there is fertile soil a plant is sure to grow. This need for human interaction will grant numerous job opportunities for those in need, While also allowing for an increase in businesses. With so many people distributing marijuana on a daily basis it is impossible for anyone to argue that it would not produce more jobs. Though many have taken it upon themselves to go against the law there are many who choose not to. However, once the law restricting the recreational use of marijuana has been uplifted and reformed those who would not consider becoming distributors may reconsider.
One major argument made is that legalization will lead to increased recreational use of marijuana. Although at first this may seem obvious this too can easily be disputed. Upon legalization of marijuana, like alcohol and tobacco, the purchase of marijuana will be controlled. There will be taxes imposed, age restriction guidelines , and portion control.
