When I was younger, I always wanted to go trick or treating. All my friends went every year, and often bragged about how much candy the got, and how much fun they had. When I begged my mom to let me go, she said “no.” I kept on trying to change my mom’s mind, but to no avail. 4 years of grief and frustration followed. I pleaded for her to let me go, but her response was always the same: “No. It’s dangerous to go out at night.” I didn’t understand, since all my friends were going every year, and they always back safe and sound. My mom buys a big box of candy every year, to give to trick or treaters on halloween. After realizing that kids don’t go to houses where the lights are turned off, I began discreetly closing all the blinds and turning off my living room lights. It worked. For 5 years, I have been eating all the candy my mom has been buying for trick or treaters, all made possible by her not allowing me to actually go out for halloween. To this day, my mom isn’t quite sure why people stopped showing up at our house starting approximately 5 years ago. I regret
