The decreased, controlled prices will be more inviting for lower-class patients. Despite universal care lengthening lifespans and improving health conditions, it can also lead to less individualized care and longer waiting times. Affordable prices will lead to patients seeking care for smaller injuries more often. Additionally, universal healthcare is a single-payer system that funds hospitals through federal taxes. America would use this rather than the multi-provider system that is used today. Despite many believing “it is the federal government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have health care coverage”, there is still a majority who want private programs (Sorum). Universal healthcare, funded through direct tax payments, would ensure everyone has equal access to medical care. This system would minimize cost barriers such as multiple payments to providers from out-of-pocket or through an insurance agency.
