Ari Greene is back home in Toronto! And Heart of the City takes place in the Kensington Market neighbourhood.
It's been some time since Ari Greene was falsely accused of murdering his lover, and although he was cleared of the charges he ended up fleeing Toronto. Now he's back but no longer as a homicide detective. Instead he finds himself in two new roles, one with his new job in construction and the other as a father to his newly discovered daughter. However, try as he might to avoid his past life it seems like he can't escape the call of murder and crime.
